Ponta Cais

Ponta Cais (Capeverdean Crioulo: Punta Kás, São Vicente: Ponta Kais) is a point located in the north of the island of Maio and it represents the island's northernmost point in Cape Verde. The point is neighbouring its nearest settlement, Porto Cais. Distance is approximately 25 to 30 km north of the island capital of Vila do Maio and about 8 km northeast of Morrinho. The point features a lighthouse.

Geography

The point are surrounded by rocky ledges, several promontories surround the small promontory. It is accessed with a remote road linking with Morrinho and Santo Antônio. The area around the point are mountainous.

Panorama

The point offers a view of the Atlantic Ocean as well as some parts of the northern portion of the island. It rarely offers a view of the nearby island of Boa Vista.
